Sienna Miller will return to the West End in a production directed by Trevor Nunn. Flare Path, first performed in London’s West end in 1942, will preview at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on the 4th March.
Described as ‘A story of love, loyalty and desire set at the height of the Second World War’ Miller plays an actress who is caught between duty and passion.
The play, written by Terrence Rattigan, is based on his own experiences as a tail gunner in the RAF during the Second World War.
Sienna Miller was last seen in the West End, when she starred in Shakespeare’s classic, As You Like It and recently starred in After Miss Julie on Broadway.
Flare Path is booking until the 4th June 2011 at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. Buy Flare Path tickets here.
It’s a surprise comeback for Beckett’s most famous and confounding play, Waiting For Godot. Last year, legends Ian Mckellen and Patrick Stewart pottered about on stage as Estragon and Vladmir. Looks like Sir Ian can’t get enough of Beckett’s existentialist world; he is retuning with the production to the Theatre Royal Haymarket, this time starring with Roger Rees.
When the production ran last summer at the Haymarket, it was a scramble to get a ticket. While X-Men fans waited outside for returns, many had to make do with accosting the lead actors as they left via the stage door.
Even though Patrick Stewart is not returning, Godot redux will be one of the theatrical highlights of the new year, due to the strength and compelling allusiveness of Beckett’s masterpiece. Another of Beckett’s plays, Endgame, has just finished its run at the Duchess theatre, so it looks as though there is a huge demand right now for the staging of literary classics.

Put the coffee on and lay out the table. Breakfast is about to become the main meal of the day for Anna Friel.
The excellent TV show Pushing Daisies may have been cancelled by the American networks after only two very brief series, but when one door closes….well, you know.
It was confirmed last week, that Friel will star as Holly Golightly in the stage adaptation of Truman Capote’s novella, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, which will open at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on the 9th September.
Set in New York in 1943, Holly Golightly is living the high life as a socialite with big ambition. Who will she marry? And more importantly what will she wear? The character of Holly Golightly was immortalised by Audrey Hepburn in the film version of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, highlighting the classic look of little black dress, pearls and huge sunglasses.
While the production has been classed as a play, it was confirmed that the iconic song “Moon River” (from the film version of Breakfast at Tiffany’s) will be performed in the production, delighting hard core film enthusiasts but also operating as a good lovey-dovey song for couples – men, take note if you want to impress.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s is booking until the 9th January 2010. Buy your Breakfast at Tiffany’s tickets here.
